Additional Information

Architectural Accessibility

Main Building of the AGH University of Krakow — Al. Adama Mickiewicza 30, Krakow

Accessibility of the building entrance and passing through control areas

The main entrance to the building is located at Al. Mickiewicza 30. There are stairs (7 steps) at the entrance. This entrance is not accessible to wheelchair users.

For wheelchair users, an entrance has been adapted at the back of the building from the northern courtyard, where an elevator to the building is located. Intercoms are installed at the entrance and exit of the courtyard to contact the reception in case the gate is closed. People with mobility impairments will not be able to reach the reception — there is no level communication between the -1 level and the reception (6 steps) and between the 0 level and the reception (16 steps).

Accessibility of corridors, stairs, and elevators

The corridors in the building allow for free movement — there are no level differences. Access to the entire basement level and parts of the lower ground floor (to the northern and southern wings) is limited.

The stairs do not have special accommodations for people with disabilities, except for the access to rooms 380-383, where a lift has been installed.

The building is equipped with 3 passenger elevators:

  • Two internal elevators, measuring 1.1x1.3 m, moving between levels from -1 (lower ground floor) to the 3rd floor (-1, 0, 1, 2, 3), partially adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
  • An external elevator, serving as an entrance/exit from the northern courtyard, adapted for people with disabilities, moving between levels from the ground level outside the building (P) to the 2nd floor - (P, -1, 0, 1, 2).

The elevators are equipped with voice messages and Braille labels.

There are two toilets for people with disabilities in the building, located on the first and third floors.

The AGH University Main Hall is equipped with an FM system to assist with hearing.

Information about the location and how to use the designated parking spaces for people with disabilities

There is a designated parking space for people with disabilities in the internal parking lot, located by the entrance (elevator) adapted for people with disabilities.

Access to the parking lot is from Reymonta Street 7 (Main Gate). Access to the parking lot is restricted by a barrier, where there is an intercom and a service station. It is possible to apply for a card to open the barrier or request assistance from an AGH University Security employee.

Communication and Information Accessibility

AGH University buildings allow entry with assistance dogs.

If you need a sign language interpreter on-site or online, please contact the AGH Accessibility Office. The information desk is open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This service is free for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
